A few weeks ago I was eating an orange when I began to wonder how they peel the oranges in bulk for the tins of slides oranges and other pre-peeled orange products.
I did a quick scout around on the Internet and didn't find much, so I decided to do a little bit of my own journalism to try to find out.
When I got home that evening I penned a letter to two leading uk supermarkets who sell tinned oranges.
Posing as a schoolboy who had been assigned a punishment essay on peeling oranges and was determined to write the best punishment essay ever, I politely enquired what the process was for obtaining pre-peeled oranges.
Both supermarkets replyed, but sadly neither were willing or able to actually answer my question. Both letters told me they received a lot of product enquiries and didn't have the resources to respond to each one, and then thanked me for my interest.
Still, my quest for trivial knowledge will continue, I will find out the truth of the oranges!
